Spruce Meadow & Spruce Mountain are two local hikes that are popular with the locals. It is designated green space that used to be ranch land. Several years ago, Douglas County bought this land, and opened it up to the public.
Joseph and I made the entire 8.5 mile loop in 4 hours. And that included stopping for lunch on windy point at the top of the mountain, as well as a couple water/photo breaks along the way. Not a bad hike really.
